Nathalia - Barmah Heritage Centre now displaying my poem

G'day again,

How exciting is this?

The Nathalia - Barmah Heritage Centre's latest display features the prototype of Bela Angyl's magnificent beaten copper Timber Cutter statue that stands proudly at the southern entrance to Nathalia, and my poem 'The Broad Axe Sleeper Cutter' is part of this display.

The Broad Axe Sleeper Cutter was published in the first edition of the book, 'Timber Workers of the Barmah Forest' which Leigh and I published in 2009. This was quickly followed by a second edition in 2010.

If you're in the Nathalia area, then why not stop at Bela's beautiful statue - just about every time I drive into Nathalia I pull up beside him and say g'day. Thanks to recent efforts by the Nathalia community, this beautiful piece of public art is spotlit at night and is a stunning welcome sight to residents and travellers at any time of day.

Once you've checked out the Timber Cutter statue, you could call into the Heritage Centre for more information on the local area and then have a tea or coffee at Brereton's Bakery. Their range of delicious eats and treats is certainly worth stopping for.

Cheers, Nerelie
